Armed robbers attack fuel station of Keta MP, get away with 7000 cedis

- Armed robbers have ransacked the fuel station of Keta MP, Dzudzorli Kwame Gakpey

- These robbers absconded with 7000 cedis in cash

- The case has been reported to the police amid calls for MPs to have bodyguards

A fuel station belonging to the legislator for the Keta constituency, Dzudzorli Kwame Gakpey, has been ransacked by armed robbers.

This happened on the dawn of Sunday. Media reports from Joy News claim the robbers escaped with a cash amount of 7000 cedis among other valuable items.

The attack on the legislator comes on the back of avid calls for all members of parliament to have bodyguards.

The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel Dr. Mohammed Ibn Chambas is calling on authorities in Ghana to investigate and hold accountable personnel of the security agencies who shot and killed some persons during the elections held earlier this week.

In a statement released by his office, he also called on the two main political parties, NPP and NDC to respect the peace Pact they signed prior to the elections.

Meanwhile, Paramount Chief of the Techiman Traditional Area in the Bono East Region, Oseadeeyo Akumfi Ameyaw, has condemned the shooting incident that led to the death of two people in the area during the just ended elections.

Election results declared by the Returning Officer to the President – Jean Mensa – confirms that John Mahama was unable to garner 50 plus one votes. The results show that John Mahama polled 6,214,889 while Nana Addo polled 6,730,413 votes.

The opposition NDC has fiercely rejected the results of the election. John Mahama has described it as flawed and rigged. Party supporters have also picketed at the headquarters of the Electoral Commission on various occasions against the results.

Meanwhile, political scientists at the Department of Political Science of the University of Ghana argue that forming a parallel government is unconstitutional. Such acts can even trigger treasonable offences.
