- The appointment of the new CDS is pending the president’s consultation with the Council of State

Ghana is set to have a new Chief of Defence Staff following the appointment of Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Seth Amoama.

Amoama will replace the current CDS, Lt. Gen. O.B Akwa on February 5, 2021.

President Nana Akufo-Addo is expected to consult the yet-to-be constituted Council of State on Amoama’s appointment and the expectations are that the Council will back the president’s pick.

The current CDS has completed his tour of duty and will subsequently retire from the Ghana Armed Forces on February 5, 2021.

Meanwhile, Rear Admiral Issah Adams Yakubu was also appointed as Chief of Naval Staff, replacing the outgoing Amoama.

Yakubu is currently the Chief of Staff at General Headquarters of the Ghana Armed Forces.

In other news, a 37-year-old Ghanaian CEO called Samuel Mensah who was based in the United Kingdom has died of the novel coronavirus after a scheduled interview on the virus.

According to Good Evening Ghana's verified Facebook handle where the news of Samuel's passing was announced, the deceased was billed to be interviewed on Metro TV on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at 9 pm.

Sadly, Paul Adom-Otchere later announced that Sam himself has passed on as a result of the coronavirus which he contracted earlier.

Samuel Mensah was the second generation CEO of Uncle John Bakery in the United Kingdom, which is the largest Ghanaian-owned bakery in the whole of Europe.

In a separate development on YEN.com.gh, the headteacher who trended in the news some time ago over the infamous kitchen stool saga with his female students has died.

Mr. Robert Quaye Nortey Seppeh as he is known in real life died at age 44 on December 7, 2020, Ghana’s Election Day.

The funeral will be held over the weekend of January 29-31, 2021, with wake-keeping starting tonight at Awoshie in Accra.

Seppeh left behind his wife, Mrs. Felicity Tawiah, and five children - Baaba Seppeh, Abigail Seppeh, Prince Otu Seppeh, Joseph Otubi Seppeh, and Nhyira Seppeh.
