3 million jobs created in Akufo-Addo’s first administration – Employment Minister nominee says
- In September 2020, the nominee said one million jobs were created
- Vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, also claimed two million jobs were created during an address in November 2020

Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, the nominee for the Employment and Labour Ministry, has stated that three million jobs were created in President Nana Akufo-Addo’s first term.
The jobs were in both private and public sectors, the minister-designate told the Appointments Committee of Parliament on Wednesday, February 17, 2021.

“When I last checked on the number of jobs we have created, we had so far created jobs for over 3 million people," he told the committee.
Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in the runup to the December 2020 general election, quoted two million to be the number of jobs created.
He said nothing was more dehumanizing and more frustrating for young people than being jobless and that “we did not run away from the challenge, we took the bull by the horn and in four years, we have created over two million jobs in the formal sector.”
The nominee’s handing over notes also quoted another figure—2.7 jobs created.
In other news on YEN.com.gh, Dr. Dominic Ayine, one of former president John Mahama’s spokespersons in the ongoing 2020 election petition trial, is psyching himself to be cited for contempt after accusing the court of ganging up against his former boss.
Dr. Ayine during a pre-trial interview said the court had a “predetermined agenda” to rule against Mahama after dismissing his request to reopen his case.
“I won’t begrudge them,” the former Deputy Attorney General told an Accra-based Radio Station.
Meanwhile, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah described as troubling suggestions by the communication team of the former president that Tsatsu Tsikata is brighter than all the justices hearing the case.
“…how can it be that the petitioner’s communication team…argues that the seven justices or the nine justices are always wrong in law and only Mr. Tsikata is the one who understands the law, knows the law and is therefore always right?” he asked. “It cannot be.”
Touching on the accusation made by Dr. Ayine, Oppong Nkrumah said it was not fair to the judicial system, Ghana’s democracy, and the people of Ghana.
“That is scandalous of the court,” he stated.
