Ernest Owusu Bempah, the vociferous director of communication at Ghana Gas Company Limited, who is on the verge of losing his graceful three-bedroom apartment for failing to raise ¢310,000 judgment debt, says he lied against the CEO of Engineers and Planners, Ibrahim Mahama.

He, therefore, apologised for his March 3, 2018, statement on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsoroma’ show that the brother of former President John Dramani Mahama is a “thief.”

Ibrahim Mahama sued on March 22, 2018, Owusu Bempah and the Despite Group of Companies, the owners of UTV for defamation.

The Ghana Gas director of communication said on the March 3, 2018, show in twi that “because krono na w’abo…” (To wit Mr Ibrahim is rich because he has stolen).

In a letter acknowledging he erred grossly, he described his statement as unequivocally “derogatory and defamatory” of the person and the “enviable achievements” of Ibrahim Mahama.

Moving away from litigation to the COVID-19 pandemic, over 60 health workers at the Savelugu Municipal Hospital in the Northern Region tested positive for COVID-19, YEN.com.gh has gathered.

This was after mass testing of staff at the facility following the disturbing increase in recorded cases in the municipality.

YEN.com.gh understands that there are more samples at the laboratory yet to be tested.

Still on COVID-19, Information Minister-designate, Kojo Oppong Nkruham disclosed that Ghana would take delivery of its first batch of the COVID-19 vaccines on Monday, February 22, 2021—that’s later today hopefully.

The disclosure was made over the weekend at the Conference and Donor Presentation for the Sustainable Development of Yendi Municipal Hospital.

The country is one of the 145 countries of the UN-led COVAX Facility earmarked to take delivery of 2.4 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine licensed to the Serum Institute of India (AZ/SII).
