- Ghana Health Service is calling on all Ghanaians to avail themselves to take the shots if the time for comes

- The GHS said Ghanaians who refuse to take the COVID vaccine will become a health hazard to themselves and their families

- The comment comes on the back of some concerns raised by Ghanaians as their reason not to take the vaccine

The coronavirus vaccine which was recieved at the Airport on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 is set to be dispatched to the various health centres on March 2.

The first consignment of the vaccine is expected to be given to all health workers especially those on the front line as well as legislators and those in authority.

In view of this, the Ghana Health Service, (GHS) is calling on all Ghanaians to avail themselves to take the shots if the time for comes.

The Deputy Programme Manager of the Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI) at GHS, John Frederick Dadzie, said Ghanaians who refuse to take the COVID vaccine will become a health hazard to themselves and their families.

“If you don’t take the vaccine you become a problem to yourself and your community, and you become a health hazard to yourself and to your family,” he said on the Morning Starr.

His comments comes in the wake of concerns over the vaccines by some Ghanaians.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that Ghana had taken delivery of some 600,000 doses COVID-19 vaccine.

The country is one of the 145 countries of the UN-led COVAX Facility earmarked to take delivery of 2.4 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine licensed to the Serum Institute of India (AZ/SII).

The vaccines arrived at the Kotoka International Airport on the morning of Thursday, February 22, 2021, on an Emirates Airlines cargo, EK787.

In other news, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Railway Development Authority (GRDA), Richard Dombo, has died.

Dombo, YEN.com.gh understands died from COVID-19 complications. He died on Wednesday, February 17, 2021.

The son of the late Chief Simon Diedong Dombo, one of the founders of the Danquah-Dombo-Busia political tradition, President Nana Akufo-Addo appointed him to head GRDA in 2017.

He had been battling the deadly COVID-19 pandemic since January 2021.
