On Monday, March 1, 2021, a bullion van transporting bank cash was robbed at gun point of an unspecified amount of money in broad day light.

The bullion van was allegedly on the way to Cal Bank with bank official, police personnel and driver when the incident occurred.

The incident occurred behind the Danpong Hospital and in front of Harvest Christian Academy at Baatsona on the Spintex Road.

The Police in Baatsona have however, arrested 51 persons in random swoops in connection to the robbery incident that occurred.

The swoops were carried out at the Kotobabi Market, Addogonno Railways Crossing by four Police teams including personnel drawn from Accra Regional Operations led by Baatsonaa and Sakumono District Commanders who supported men from the Accra Regional CID under the supervision of the Baatsona Divisional Commander.

Three of the suspects namely; Joseph Kuadze, John Agbo and Gabriel Obu were arrested with quantities of dried leaves suspected to be narcotic drugs.

The exhibits according to the police have been retained and the suspects have been detained to be processed for Court while the rest are to be screened for further investigation.

In other news, Tsatsu Tsikata, the lead counsel for John Dramani Mahama in the ongoing election petition trial, said former president Kufuor was determined to jail him by “hook or crook” during his administration.

The Accra Fast Track High Court in June 2008 sentenced the former Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Chief Executive, to five years imprisonment for wilfully causing financial loss to the State.

He was charged with three counts of wilfully causing financial loss of GHS230,000 (2.3 billion old Ghana cedis) to the State through a loan he guaranteed for Valley Farms, a private company, on behalf of GNPC and another count of misapplying public property.
