Flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC, John Dramani Mahama has stated that the court did all they could to dismiss his petition.

According to him, there is no shred of doubt that the 2020 election petition case he filed at the Supreme Court was shot down

He stated that the statements or testimonies made by his first witness, who happens to be the party's general secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah was taken out of context.

He said the judges’ insistence with answers provided by Aseidu Nketiah, to questions he was asked during cross-examination was all deliberately meant to discredit the election petition.

“Many of Asiedu Nketiah's answers in testimony during cross-examination were taken out of context to create the basis for the dismissal of our election petition,” Mahama said.

Mahama noted that he followed and listened to the testimony from beginning to end and was alarmed about the mutilation of Aseidu Nketiah's testimony in the Supreme Court ruling.

He however said the party’s legal team will come out with detailed comments on this ruling at the appropriate time.

Meanwhile, the Justices of the Supreme Court in the just ended 2020 election petition trial on Thursday described the testimonies of former President John Dramani Mahama’s second and third witness as “fanciful”.

Chief Justice, Justice Anin Yeboah said when he delivered the judgment of the seven-member panel who heard the petition that Dr. Michael Kpessa-Whyte’s and Rojo Mettle-Nunoo’s testimonies were of “no relevance” to the issues the court set out for determination.
