Graduate becomes full-time farmer; says he wants to contribute to the country's food produce

- Ndifreke Gospel read insurance and actuarial science at the university but went into farming on full-time basis upon graduation from the university

At a time many are looking for white-collar jobs or a public service means of employment, a young man has delved full time into farming and taken it as an occupation.

Ndifreke Gospel, who hails from Akwa Ibom state, read insurance and actuarial science at Imo State University said he is very passionate about the crop cultivation occupation.

But even at that, one wonders why he didn't pursue a career in insurance or something else.

In an exclusive interview with Legit.ng, Gospel said his desire to contribute his quota to the nation's food produce informed his decision to take up farming.

The 28-year-old added that he also hopes to reduce job scarcity in the country as he will be employing hands on his farm and more personnel as he is nursing the idea of expanding his farm products to other states.

Gospel highlighted insufficient capital for acquiring more lands and lack of fertilizer as some of the challenges he is encountering just as he said that he had received support from his family and friends.

The young man who intends to be farming on a large scale in the next 5 years challenges other youths to go into farming as, according to him, it is a business occupation that can never fade.

"Yes,I actually want to add a very pig warehouse for my farm products."

Meanwhile, it was earlier reported that a Nigerian graduate succeeded in cucumber farming.

The native of Umuike Eziala, Umuohiagu/Ngor Okpala in Imo state showcased his large cucumber plantation on social media.

He recounted how he was discouraged by friends and some family members when he initially nursed the idea of venturing into farming as a graduate, but today they are marvelled by his eventual success in it.
