The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin has shown that he is the leader of the house by exercising his authority.

In a 'light' altercation in Parliament on Tuesday, March 24, 2021, Alban S. K. Bagbin instructed the Majority Leader of the House, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu to resume his seat while he was making an argument on the floor of the house.

According to Bagbin, when it comes to Parliament, he was the third in line as President of Ghana in the absence of the President.

He also told Kyei Mensah Bonsu that he was just the leader of the house and not the leader of the speaker of parliament.

He made that comment when the house was debating a petition by the former Chief Executive Officer of the UT Bank and the founder of uniBank Ghana Limited over the revocation of the licenses of the two banks by the Bank of Ghana in 2018.

The petition which was laid by the NDC Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga was challenged by Kyei Mensah Bonsu.

The Speaker then overruled his assertion which resulted in a back and forth between the two.
