Twitter Boss Jack Dorsey Sells His First Tweet for GHc 16.7 million

Twitter co-founder and chief executive officer, Jack Dorsey, has sold his first-ever tweet for a record KSh 318.5 million.

The tweet which read "just setting up my Twitter" was first published on the American technology entrepreneur's page on March 21, 2006.
According to a report by BBC News, the post was purchased using ether cryptocurrency, the world's second-largest virtual currency by market capitalisation.
It was bought by Bridge Oracle chief executive officer, Sina Estavi, on Monday, March 22, as a nonfungible token (NFT).
In a short statement on his Twitter page, Estavi said people would realise the value of the tweet in future and compared it with the famous Mona Lisa painting done by Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci.
"This is not just a tweet! I think years later people will realize the true value of this tweet, like the Mona Lisa painting,"
The tweet has been shared more than 120,000 times and liked more than 160,000 times since it was first posted.
Dorsey said he would convert the money generated from the sale to Bitcoin and donate the funds to charity through the Give Directly Africa Fund which gives cash directly to families in extreme poverty in several African countries including Kenya.
The Twitter boss and musician Jay-Z had earlier teamed up to establish a new Bitcoin fund for the adoption of Bitcoin in African countries and India.
Dorsey revealed he and the American rapper and had invested KSh 2.5 billion in the project.
"JAY-Z/@S_C_ and I are giving 500 BTC to a new endowment named trust to fund #Bitcoin development, initially focused on teams in Africa and India. It will be set up as a blind irrevocable trust, taking zero direction from us. We need three board members to start," he said in a tweet.
