Forbes releases Africa Icons’ list; Nigerians dominate as no Ghanaian makes list
- A number of Nigerians were featured in the recently released Forbes Africa Icons’ List
- Celebrities like Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy among others snagged a spot on the list
- According to the business magazine, the list is a way of celebrating ideas and individuals who have championed Africa’s growth in the last decade

International business magazine, Forbes, has recognised a number of Nigerians in its recently released list of 100 Innovations, Inventions & Icons From Africa.
The list which was made available on the official website of the publication was curated as a way of “celebrating these very ideas, inventions, and influential role models that have spelt Africa’s growth over the last decade.”

Top celebrities in the Nigerian entertainment industry such as Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy and Mr Eazi all snagged a spot in the section celebrating African icons.
Other worthy mentions from the entertainment industry who were also recognised include actress Funke Akindele-Bello, Genevieve Nnaji and Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde.
Similarly, popular celebrity stylist, Swanky Jerry, was also featured in the same section as the entertainers.
Also recognised for her efforts in moving the African continent forward is the recently elected director-general of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Dr Ngozi Onjo Iweala.
The list did not fail to recognise the efforts of Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozie Adichie.
Africans from other countries who were featured in the list include South African comedian Trevor Noah, former US president Barack Obama, Oscar award-winning actress Lupita Nyong'O among others. Find the full list here.
In other entertainment-related news, YEN.com.gh earlier reported that outspoken TV and radio personality, Valentina Nana Agyeiwaa, famed as Afia Schwarzenegger has claimed in a video that her sons Irvin and Ian Geiling are womanizers.
While speaking in an exclusive interview with Ghanaian blogger Zionfelix on Zionfelix Uncut, Afia Schwar indicated that she was a mother and was not going to allow her sons to date just anyone.
She asked mothers like herself to put themselves in her shoes and see if they would watch their kids date people they did not approve of.
