Trinity International University of Ambassadors (TIUA), the school which awarded Sonnie Badu a PhD in Theology, has responded to claims that the degree is fake.

Badu has been holding himself as PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) holder for some time now and even claims to be a dean professor at TIUA.

But within the past few days, a man on Twitter alleged that Badu's PhD was fake and that he got the degree from an unaccredited university.

The young man further claimed that his checks revealed that Badu got a PhD, Masters, and Bachelors degrees from the unaccredited school within four months.

The allegations stirred a lot of conversation about Badu's degrees and have even put him up for trolling on social media.

However, TIUA has brought clarity on the matter explaining that it holds a different accreditation than what public universities in the United States hold.

In a statement that has been posted on the singer's page, TIUA disclosed that it is a private corporation in the State of Georgia legally recognised as a post-secondary educational institution with the authority to award degrees.

The statement further explained TIUA is accredited by the World-Wide Accreditation Commission of Christian Education Institution and other bodies.

The statement added that it is not mandatory to be accredited by state agencies in the US, and as a matter of choice, TIUA has decided to get accreditations from Bible accrediting agencies in order to be free from any federal or state control.

"TIUA makes no claims, implied or otherwise, that our educational programs, course, or curricula, are the same as offered by secular state colleges and universities. TIUA is not accredited with the US Department of Education. Credits and degrees earned at TIUA are for those in Christian service."

On the matter of Badu obtaining his degrees in four months, TIUA's statement denied the claim saying "TIUA did not issue any earned degrees to a student in a four-month period."

Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh has compiled a list of some of the most famous pastors with doctorate degrees they earned through studies.
