The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Phillip has died at the age of 99. He was the Queen's partner and source of strength for 73 years.

Prince Phillip returned to Windsor Castle, west of London, where he had been living with the Queen during the pandemic.

He had been admitted to King Edward VII on February 16 on the advice of the royal doctor after feeling sick for some days.

The Duke of Edinburgh was receiving treatment for an infection and also underwent a successful procedure for a pre-existing condition.

He had announced he was stepping down from royal engagements in May 2017, joking that he could no maintain the stamina that he once had.

The last time he was seen in public was in late 2020 during the Roya; Marines Parade that was held at Buckingham Palace.

However, he celebrated his 99th birthday in lockdown at Windsor Castle.
