Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has donated GHc100,000 to Real Tamale United (RTU).

The Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shaibu, made the cash donation to the Division One League side on behalf of the vice president.

The Minister expressed the vice president’s unwavering support for the club, urging the club to secure qualification to the Ghana Premier League as soon as possible.

Shaibu said, according to a report cited on Ghanaweb, Vice President Bawumia expressed readiness to support the club in any form to ensure they regain qualifications back to the first tier.

Shaibu made the donation in the company of a delegation from the office of the vice president as well as executives of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the region, the outlet reported.

Reacting to the gesture, Alhaji Sherif Savanna, Board Chairman of RTU, thanked the vice president for his immense support, pledging that they will ensure that the club returns to the Premier League.

Founded in 1976, RTU was relegated to the second tier in the 2013-14 season of the Ghana Premier League.

Their home stadium is the Tamale Stadium.
