Afia Schwarzenegger supports the conviction of Akuapem Poloo for posting nude photo

Television host, Afia Schwarzenegger, has supported the court for the conviction of actress Akuapem Poloo.

This was after the actress, born Rosemond Brown, pleaded guilty to the charge of publishing obscene material.

In a post on Instagram, she outlined why she supports the decision as a self-acclaimed ambassador for orphans in Ghana and a child rights activist.

On Wednesday, April 14, 2021, Poloo was convicted by an Accra Circuit Court after she pleaded guilty to the charges of publishing obscene material with two counts of domestic violence over posting a nude photo of her son in 2020.

She will be officially sentenced on Friday, April 16, 2021.

"I say Ayeeko. Thank you for fighting for a child right from an abusive mother. I know illiterates n blockheads will not understand this or the cost involve," reads the post by Schwarzenegger on her Instagram page.

"Now to all abusive parents ... children have their right n if we catch you abusing that right, the laws of the land will humble you. Looking forward to working with such a credible organization."

In a related development, a top Ghanaian lawyer, Samson Lardy Anyenini says Akuapem Poloo could be sent to jail for three years after she pleaded guilty to the charge of publishing obscene material.

During an interview on Drive on Joy on Joy 99.7 FM, he stated that the crime committed by Poloo is a misdemeanor, and as a result, that's the maximum number of years that she could be sentenced to.

"It's a misdemeanor on the part of Akuapem Poloo, so she could go in for a maximum of three years," stated Anyenini.

Earlier, Akuapem Poloo explained the idea behind the photoshoot saying that she gave birth to her son while not wearing any clothes, therefore, she decided to remind him of what she went through to birth him.

This got a lot of people, both individuals, and groups calling for the head of Poloo over her act.

Poloo deleted the post after she was severely criticized. She later recorded another video with her son to apologise to Ghanaians for the photo.

Bright Appiah, Executive Director of the non-governmental organization, Child Rights International, reported the actress to the police posting a nude photo of herself and her son on Instagram last year.
