Finally, govt signs agreement with AirtelTigo to transfer ownership to the state

- The government has agreed with AirtelTigo to transfer ownership to the state

- It follows AirtelTigo’s decision to exit Ghana

- All assets and liabilities are thereby transferred to Ghana following the agreement

AirtelTigo has signed an agreement with the government of Ghana for the transfer of ownership to the state.

This comes after the telecommunications giant announced in June 2020 its decision to exit the Ghanaian market.

The agreement was signed after the government of Ghana concluded negotiations with AirtelTigo’s parent companies, Bharti Airtel Ghana Holdings B.V. and MIC Africa B.V.

Per the negotiation, all the company’s assets, and agreed liabilities are transferred to the government of Ghana.

“We consider this a positive step as it adds to the growing portfolio of digital infrastructure assets being utilized by the government,” Communication Minister, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, said of the agreement in a statement sighted by YEN.com.gh.

In other news, actress Akuapem Poloo has been sentenced to a three-month jail term for posting a nude photo with her son in June 2020.

Poloo was sentenced after pleading guilty to the charge which included the publication of obscene material and domestic violence.

Earlier, comedian DKB had visited Akuapem Poloo in the police cells. In a video after the visit, DKB has described the actress' current condition.

The comedian also pleaded with the judge in the case to be merciful.

Meanwhile, Hiplife legend Reggie Rockstone has jabbed TV presenter Joyce Serwaa Amihere on Twitter over Akuapem Poloo's court case.

Serwaa Amihere had suggested that those pleading on Akuapem Poloo's behalf were 'wasting their breath,' Reggie Rockstone however shared a different view on the whole.

The GHOne TV star's post on Twitter read: “A person is convicted on her OWN PLEA, this means that the person accepts that he or she is wrong. The natural consequence of pleading guilty on your own volition means that you are ready to be punished. How are we asking for this person to be freed….”
