9 jailbreakers from Nigeria re-arrested after trying to seek refuge in Ghana

- Some nine prisoners who broke jail in Nigeria on April 5, 2021, have been arrested in Ghana

- They were tracked to an area known as Clinic Junction Lorry Station and police seized the sprinter bus which had the Nigerian suspected jailbreakers on board

- They have been handed over to the Ghana Immigration Service in Tema to assist with investigations

News reaching YEN.com.gh indicates that some nine prisoners who broke jail in Nigeria on April 5, 2021, have been arrested in Ghana.

According to a report filed by JoyNews, the criminals were apprehended by the Ada District Police Command in the Greater Accra Region.

The police said the fugitives were closely monitored based on intelligence as they crossed the Volta River into Ada Foh on Sunday, April 18.

The nine, including a female, were in a sprinter bus with registration number, ER 1657-14. They were captured while preparing to leave for Accra.

They had with them some personal belongings, passports, ID cards, and local and Nigerian currency.

The escapees have been handed over to the Ghana Immigration Service in Tema to assist with investigations.

In other news, a Circuit Court in the Ashanti Region has sentenced a 35-year-old man, Yaw Gyamfi, to 15 years in prison for impersonation.

The Bekwai Circuit Court gave Gyamfi the 15-year jail term for impersonating a military officer to defraud two people including one chief identified as Nana Kwarteng Ababio II of GHc15,000 to enlist his four children into the army.

According to a report filed by Starr News, the convict who is a driver also took GHc1,300 from one Abena Nyarko to facilitate her recruitment into the military.
