Yvonne Nelson has harshly criticised President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for returning Ghana to the dark days of erratic power outages christened ‘dusmor’.
Bitterly disappointed with the president’s failure to eradicate dumsor totally, contrary to his electioneering promise, the award-winning movie star took to Twitter to call him out.

She said in a tweet sighted by YEN.com.gh that Ghanaians are exhausted with the president’s lies regarding the country’s current power challenges.
“We are tired of their LIES #DUMSORMUSTSTOP Same STORY year after year....... same lies...different parties,” Nelson said in the tweet as she shared a snapshot of a previous statement made by the president on the crisis.
It will be recalled Nelson led her colleagues in the movie industry to join blue-collar workers in demonstrations against power cuts in 2015.
They marched through the streets of the capital to demand an ended energy crisis during the administration of former President John Dramani Mahama.
Nelson’s latest outburst on the unending energy conundrum triggered a massive reaction from Ghanaians with some loyalists of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) insulting her.

In other news on YEN.com.gh, Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, a member of the seven-member panel that sat on the 2020 election petition, said the Supreme Court expected the petitioner to provide pink sheets supporting his allegations of electoral irregularities and lack of a clear winner in the presidential poll.
Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) petitioned the apex court after rejecting the outcome of the presidential polls.
He argued in his petition that the December 9 declaration by the chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa, that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo won the presidential election was flawed.
According to him, there was no winner in the election, and that the Supreme Court should set aside the EC chairperson’s declaration and order for a rerun between him and the president.
The Apex Court, however, dismissed the petition, stating that it cannot order a rerun of the 2020 presidential polls.
