YEN.com.gh has gathered details of a Ghanaian mother of two who claimed in a heart-rending video that her husband of nearly two years assaulted her.

Rachel, who is a former student of Wesley Girls Senior High School and the University of Cape Coast (UCC), gained attention after a video of her appeared online alleging that her husband, Stephen Adu, physically assaulted her.

In the video, Rachel claimed that her husband battered her after she quit his family business because the remuneration was paltry.

''I've been married for less than two years. My husband is Stephen Adu ... His family is quite affluent. He did this to me. I have two kids with him. I don't have money for a lawyer, I'm from a poor home,'' she said amid tears.

''I'm jobless; he didn't want me to work, he didn't want me to find any job. He wanted me to work with his family but the salary was small so I couldn't stay,'' she added.

Rachel called on human rights organisations, her alma mater, and other influential institutions to come to her aid.

But another angle to the story has been shared by social media influencer, Francis Kennedy Ocloo.
