Former President of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, has been named by the African Union (AU) as its High Representative to Somalia.

According to a report by DW Africa, the former Ghanaian Head of State is being tasked to do well to resolve the extreme political crisis that exists in the nation of Somalia.

This comes on the back of Somalia experiencing heightened tension regarding its next election as the incumbent president, Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed, had a resolution to extend his term of office by another two years.

In the words of the AU, Mahama's role would be to ensure that there is:

"a mutually acceptable compromise towards an all-encompassing resolution for the holding of Somali elections in the shortest possible time."

Many Africans including Ghanaians have been sharing their thoughts on this development.

For instance, Ikeman Wise said:

This man John Mahama is the only hope and savior of Ghana please leave him out of this Somalia issue and let the Somalians solve their own issues,call our corrupt criminal president Nana addo he deserves this job not Mahama.

Pair him up with former president of Sierra Leone Dr. EB Koroma.........these two would have formed a powerful voice in bringing everyone on board though l trust and believe in his (Mahama) leadership QUALITIES.

In another interesting development, famous Ghanaian rapper, Sarkodie, has finally broken his silence concerning the trending FixTheCountry movement of Ghanaians calling on the government to attend to the numerous issues being faced by citizens.

According to the influential artiste, the citizens will automatically fix their attitudes if the government fixes the country for them.
