KGL partners Ministry of Youth and Sports ahead of AFCON and World Cup campaigns

The Board and Management of KGL Group have responded to a call on corporate Ghana by President Nana Akufo-Addo to lend support to sports development.

This is part of the Group's corporate social responsibility aimed at improving its consumer connection and supporting socially relevant causes.

The sponsorship package from KGL Group forms part of a larger effort led by the government geared towards raising over $25 million in financial support across the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ghana Football Association(GFA), and corporate bodies, towards sports development.

KGL Group's contribution was proposed along with commitments from other corporate bodies including Coca Cola Bottling Company, Akosombo Textiles, Toyota Ghana Ltd, Cocobod, Universal Motors, Zondac Tec. Ghana Ltd, Macdan Group among others at a breakfast meeting recently held with President Akufo-Addo.

All funds committed and pledges by the KGL Group and other corporate institutions will be focused on supporting the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the GFA's efforts in preparing the national football team, Ghana Black Stars to partake in the upcoming AFCON and 2022 FIFA World Cup Campaigns.

KGL Technology Limited, an operational arm of the KGL Group, is a full-fledged digital services provider operating *959# online lottery under the National Lottery Authority(NLA) mandate as its legally licensed online lotto marketing company.

The company has been at the forefront in helping the government to successfully implement the digitalisation programme at the NLA and generate revenue for national development.

According to the Board Chairman of the KGL Group, Togbe Francis Nyonyo, "KGL' s social accountability goes beyond just giving back to society or charity cases but encompasses the complete integration of KGL' s business divisions to check the impact of Group's operations across all aspects of society, including economic, social, and environmental.''

He reiterated that the KGL Group's commitment to the corporate call by the government for this cause and urged other stakeholders to join hands to support the Ministry of Youth and Sports and GFA' s efforts in supporting the national team tournament preparations.

In a separate story, Martha Ama Akyaa Pobee has been appointed as the United Nations Assistant Secretary-General for Africa by the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres.

Pobee will be serving in the Departments of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs and Peace Operations (DPPA-DPO).

The position was previously held by Guinea's Bintou Keita, who has been assigned as the Secretary-General's Special Representative in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Head of the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO).
