We will construct 200 bridges in 2021 - Roads minister promises
- Government has assured of completing all 150 roads
- The sector minister says some of the roads have been sponsored by donors
- Akufo-Addo has declared 2021 as a year of road completion
Government says it will construct and complete 120 bridges by the end of 2021. This assurance is coming from the Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwesi Amoako-Atta.
Speaking to the media, the minister revealed that these bridges include 50 bridges under the Czech Bridges Programme of which “bridge components are being fabricated in Czech Republic with the arrival of 21 of them in the country pending the start of work”.
The bridges also include Dikpe, Iture and Ankobra Bridge, the Volivo cable stay bridge, Adawso to Ekyeamanfrom Bridge over the Volta in Afram Plains, 89 Mabey Bailey Bridges as well as the reconstruction of Buipe, Yapei and Daboya Bridges.
Additionally, touching on completed bridges in the country, he said 69 of steel bridges across the feeder roads network have been completed and will be launched under the Sinohydro Project.

A head teacher, Yaw Eyifa Gorman, has been shot and killed by unknown gunmen in his home at Cape Coast in the Central Region.
Yaw Eyifa Gorman, popularly known as Dr. Sting, was shot in his car after he returned home from a census training on Saturday evening.
YEN.com.gh gathered that the incident happened at about 7:40 pm on Saturday, May 22, in the compound of his own home.
One co-tenant told Joy News that they heard the sound of the gun and rushed out to figure out what it was only to find Gorman shot dead.
''We were all in our room and we heard a loud noise. Some of us thought it was a knockout. Then we heard his wife screaming ... 'Please someone should come and help me!' So when we did.''
The Central Region Police Command has launched investigations into the incident.
