Bernice Amago, a Ghanaian pupil-teacher who was knocked down by a mini truck in 2019 still suffers from the consequences two years after the incident.
Revealing the story to YEN.com.gh, Priscilla Amago, a sister to the victim, indicated that their father is a pensioner and their mother, a petty trader who has stopped trading in order to take care of Bernice as they cannot afford the services of a professional caregiver.
It is indicated that although the driver responsible was processed in court, Bernice had to rely on possible insurance claims for compensation which is still pending.

Due to the extent of injury Bernice suffered, the hospital ruled her to be of 97% incapacitation, and three years on has still lost her memory, cannot talk or walk, remains bedridden with multiple bed sores, and still feeds through a feeding tube.
A medical report signed by Dr Frederick Kwarteng, a Consultant Surgeon at the Hospital said a CT scan of the head showed multiple intracerebral bleeds at the frontal and parietal regions.
An amount of $20,000 (GHc 115,830) is needed for the 30-year-old's continuous rehabilitation that was prescribed for her.

In another story, a 35-year-old midwife, Priscilla Baah, has died from a postpartum haemorrhage after she gave birth at Newland Hospital, a private health facility in Koforidua in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
It is alleged that the sad incident occurred due to negligence on the part of the health officers on duty at the private facility, but insider information obtained by YEN.com.gh has revealed that was not the case.
