Ruby Amanfu, a Ghanaian-American singer and songwriter, has been named the president of the Nashville Chapter of the Recording Academy, organisers of the Grammy Awards.

She is expected to lead operations of the organisation behind the world's most prestigious music awards scheme in the city best known as the home of country music.

Amanfu shared the news about her latest achievement online.

"To the outsiders, the misfits, and the awkward souls ~ this one’s for us. To the ones who know a lot of people, without a lot of people really knowing them ~ this one’s for us," reads a post by the Grammy-nominated singer.

"I am the new president of the Nashville Chapter of the Recording Academy. Running for this position called to me and wouldn’t let me shut my ears. I’ll do what I can in these next two years to make more room on the porch for all of us."

Amanfu was raised in Ghana until the age of three when her parents relocated to the United States. She provided backing vocals on Beyonce's Don't Hurt Yourself.

Amanfu also co-wrote Hard Place with Grammy award-winning singer and songwriter, H.E.R. It earned her a nomination at the 2019 Soul Train Music Awards.

In other news, Captain Smart has disclosed that the managers of Media General, the parent company of TV3, Onua FM, and Onua TV expressed interest in acquiring his services some three years ago.

On June 1, 2021, YEN.com.gh reported that Smart joined the media company as the host of the morning show on the brand's mass media market subsidiary. He was hosted on TV3's Morning show, New Day as an introduction.
