Kasoa ritual killing: Judge in charge of case abandons case and resigns

- The judge in charge of the case involving the two teenagers who allegedly killed an 11-year-old boy in Kasoa has resigned

- According to 3news sources, he had resigned after not showing up at hearings on two occasions

Information reaching YEN.com.gh indicates that the judge in charge of the case involving the two teenagers who allegedly killed an 11-year-old boy in Kasoa has resigned.

The judge, His Worship Samuel Adjei, according to 3news sources, said he had resigned after not showing up at the hearing on two occasions.

Another judge has however been assigned to the case and is expected to take over the matter and other cases at the Ofaakor District Court.

The court on Wednesday, for a second time in two weeks, adjourned the case.

On May 4, 2021, the court directed the prosecution to provide a duplicate copy of the docket on the matter to the Attorney General’s office for advice and was adjourned to May 19.

On the next adjourned date, May 19, 2021, when the case was called, the judge was unavailable.

The family of the deceased 11-year-old has expressed disappointment about the snail-pace of the trial.

Spokesperson Samed Akalilu said, “We thought there would be expedited trial so the family can get justice and have some closure. But that is not happening. And we are disappointed.”

In other news, Ras Mubarak, the former Member of Parliament for Kumbungu is suggesting that Dr. Yaw Adutwum, minister of education take charge by dissolving the Achimota School board.

He made the comments following the board's plan to appeal a verdict by the court that some two Rastafarian students should be admitted by the school.

In a new interview, Mubarak lashed out at the board's decision stating that he would have done away with the board if he had the power to do so.

"The Education Minister has the power to bring to an end all this madness and as I said, if I were in his shoes, I would have reprimanded the board and dissolved it," Mubarak said to Francis Abban, host of Morning Starr on Starr FM.
