The Deputy Majority Leader has advised Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa to stop making noise about the allegations of President Akufo-Addo's usage of a chartered luxurious flight.

Alexander Afenyo Markin said Ablakwa must respect parliamentary rules by not making a fuss about the whole thing until it is admitted by the Speaker of Parliament, a Joy News report stated.

According to Afenyo-Markin, taking to social media in dealing with such matters in public while seeking an audience in Parliament is harmful to the growth of democracy.

“... as MPs we will respect our own rules of engagement and create an atmosphere where the debate will be enriched, but this one-way approach and leaking things to the press ...what are you seeking to achieve?” he quizzed.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, made claims that President Akufo-Addo spent Ghc2.8m on a private jet on his recent trips to France and South Africa.

In a post on his Facebook page, he alleged that Akufo-Addo decided to rent an aircraft that cost the Ghanaian taxpayer £15,000 an hour.

He further added that the President left Accra for Paris on May 16, 2021, and then from Paris to Johannesburg and back to Accra on May 25.

Ablakwa stated that the trip accumulated a total of 23 hours amounting to £345,000.

The former deputy Education Minister confirmed to Starrfm.com.gh that he has enough evidence to back his claims if the presidency denies his allegations.
