Accra Great Olympics midfielder Gladson Awako will miss Ghana Black Stars' friendly game against Morocco in Rabat on Tuesday night due to injury.
The midfielder picked up the injury while training with the team in Rabat on Monday evening ahead of the game.
The Olympics captain suffered a cut on his right leg and is under the care of the Black Stars medical team.
Having made his Black Stars debut in March 2021 against Sao Tome and Principe, the petite midfielder's hopes of extending his international cap have been dashed by the setback.
However, it is yet to be known the length of his injury and when he will be returning to the pitch.
His injury will be a huge worry for Olympics who have been heavily reliant on their captain.
Meanwhile, the rest of the players in the Black Stars camp have no injury concerns.
Ghana plays Morocco tonight in Rabat before returning home for a second friendly against Ivory Coast on June 12, 2021.
The U23 team was beaten 4-0 by their Japanese counterparts, making it 10-0 on aggregate after two legs.
Having lost 6-0 in the first leg, coach Paa Kwesi Fabin rang some changes to the team that played the first game.
The head coach decided to start Accra Hearts of Oak's goalie Richmond Ayi ahead of William Essu.
