Chaos erupted at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja after the World Cup qualifier play-off between the Black Stars and Nigeria.

The Black Stars held the much-fancied Nigerians to a 1-1 draw in Abuja. With the first leg in Kumasi ending 0-0, the Black Stars have qualified for the Qatar 2022 World Cup on the away goal rule.

Thomas Partey scores for Ghana

Ghana took an early lead through a powerful strike from Thomas Partey from outside Nigeria's penalty area in the 10th minute.

The Arsenal midfielder received a pass at the edge of the box and unleashed a shot that went under Nigeria's goalkeeper Francis Uzoho.

Nigeria equalise through a penalty

For the next 10 minutes after Partey's, it was all pressure from the Nigerians who bombarded the goal area of the Black Stars.

Their pressure yielded results in the 22nd minute when they equalised through their captain William Troost-Ekong.

Troost-Ekong converted from the spot after Tunisian referee Sadok Selmi adjudged defender Dennis Odoi to have fouled a Nigerian player in the box.

Nigerian fans invade pitch

Following the final whistle, angry Nigerian fans invaded the pitch not long after the Ghana squad began their celebrations.

In a video sighted by YEN.com.gh, almost half of the fans in the stands were seen running onto the pitch.

It is not known what the crowd had wanted to do but their invasion of the pitch caused security personnel to fire tear gas in a bid to disperse the crowd.

France Ambassador supports Black Stars, taunts Super Eagles

Prior to the game, France Ambassador Anne Sophie Avé was optimistic that the Black Stars would defeat Nigeria in Abuja to qualify for the 2022 World Cup

For Anne Avé, since stars were higher in the skies than eagles, the Black Stars were going to triumph in the second leg of the play-off.

In a video, the France Ambassador who wore a Black Stars jersey was also spotted showing off some ball juggling skills.
