UK oil company, Tullow has been named as the number company in Ghana according to the 2014 edition of the Ghana Club 100 Rankings.
The award scheme seeks to recognize and project 100 most prestigious companies in the country.
The companies are ranked in order of their profitability, dominance and their performance in their respective sectors of operations in the year in question.
The award which is organized yearly by the Ghana Investment Promotions Center ranks companies based on three factors, size, return on equity and growth.
The 2014 event, held at the Banquet Hall of the State House, was on the theme “Impact Investments and Sustainable Economic Development”.
Chief Executive Officer of GIPC, Mawuena Trebah speaking at the event said “next year our attention would continue to be on the critical sectors for investors, what is that we need to do as a country to progress to an upper middle income status.
“We will continue to grow, we will continue to learn from every experience, we will take feedback from our Club 100 members to inform on the next club 100 event”.
The first list of the Ghana Club 100 was compiled in 1998 to recognise the best companies in the different sectors in the country.
