Ghana midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah announced his return to fitness when he played in Juventus' 2-0 victory over Atalanta BC in their Serie A meeting on Sunday.
Asamoah, has returned from a nine-month injury induced absence which has made his coach Allegri use the Black stars midfielder with caution as the Old Lady coasted to the important victory.
He replaced Pereyra in the 37th minute as Paulo Dybala produced a man-of-the-match performance in the Juventus win.
Juventus made their pressure count in the 28th minute as Dybala fired a swerving effort from outside the box into the roof of the net. They managed to double their lead four minutes into the second half as Mandzukic arrived inside the six-yard box to guide home Dybala’s low cross.
Paul Pogba missed the opportunity to give Juve a third goal as he saw his penalty saved by Sportiello after Dybala had been brought down in the box.
The missed penalty kick mattered little as the Old Lady comfortably held on to take the three points and continue their rise up the table following a not too-good-start to the season.
Meanwhile, Asamoah’s return is a massive boost for Ghana ahead of next month’s 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Comoros Islands but remains to be seen whether he comes in the plans of coach Avram Grant.
