The ‘defiant’ national chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) explained to journalist that he was at the EC forum on the voters register Thursday in the capacity as Chairman for the party.
“I’m here as the Chairman of the NPP, I am here leading the team to ensure that the views of our party are heard; to ensure that we push through the reforms that we require for next year’s elections,” the suspended Paul Afoko told journalist at the Electoral Commission forum on Voters Register.
The suspended National Chairman of the NPP appeared at the EC forum in the company of other top members of the NPP.
“Our party has always spearheaded reforms for the benefit of our country so that is what we are here to do today,” Mr. Afoko told the media briefly and left for the auditorium.
The National Executive Committee of the NPP last week endorsed a Disciplinary Committee recommendation to suspend Paul Afoko for misconduct and unconstitutional behavior.
Meanwhile the NPP in a statement said Mr. Afoko did not represent the party at the voters register forum.
“The Directorate will also like to bring to the attention of the public that, former Chairman Mr. Paul Afoko was not part of the party’s official representatives. Mr Paul Afoko, Haruna Esseku, Appiah Menkah and other members were however present at the forum to offer their support.” the party stated.
