Ghanaian Stars React To Sam Sampong's Death

This week has not been a great week for Ghana’s entertainment industry as many who knew or read about the late Sam Sarpong are saddened at his demise.

While some question why such a young gentleman with talent and great prospects would commit suicide. As many from around the world send in condolences to the family, some Ghanaian stars who had stints with the late Tommy Hilfiger model took to their various social media platforms to drop a message for the late model.

First was GUBA CEO and Founder, Dentaa who writes and encourages her fellow colleague sto seek help when they are depressed. She wrote:

“I'm sharing this piece this morning because a dear ghanaian brother @mrsamsarpong has taken his own life at a very young age. We try so hard to hide everything we're really feeling from those who probably need to know our true feelings the most. People try to bottle up their emotions, as if it's somehow wrong to have natural reactions to life. Try and share your thoughts and feelings and remember prayer is also key. Have a blessed day. #RIPSamSarpong

Next is DJ Abrantee, who wrote “So sad to hear about Sam Sarpong had the honour of meeting him in LA earlier this year @betawards real nice and humble guy condolences to his family and friends #ripsamsarpong


Ama_K_Abebrese, also a Ghanaian and UK descent  wrote “#RIPSamSarpong Wow. Sad news. Condolences to his family”.

Ghanaian BET award winning Rapper Sarkodie, Radio Presenter Jeremie, GUBA CEO Dentaa, actress/ Radio Presenter Naa Ashorkor, Ghanaian UK based Disk Jockey DJ Abrantie, actress Ama K. Abebrese among others have commented on the sad news. RIP SamSarpong ?

Sarpong died after jumping off a bridge in Pasadena, California, according to E! News. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner has ruled his death a suicide, with an autopsy pending. Known for co-hosting MTV’s “Yo Momma” and presenting the BET Award for Best International Act, Sam 40, died on Monday October 26, his rep confirmed.

Meanwhile, his family has issued a statement confirming the unfortunate incident. In a statement, his family said:

“It is with great sadness that the family of Samuel Sarpong Jr. must share the news that Sam has passed away. The circumstances surrounding his death are currently under investigation and no additional details are known at this time. The family appreciates the thoughts prayers and other expressions of sympathy, and request their privacy be respected at this extremely difficult time”.
