GRA Special Taskforce Retrieves GHC92m In Defaults

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) through its Special Revenue Mobilisation Raskforce have collected about GHC92.03 million from 1,627 delinquent taxpayers in four regions of Ghana.

According to a B&FT news report  GHC4.9 million was disclosed to have been collected in the Ashanti Region alone from organisations and businesses that have failed to honour their tax obligations over the last 12 months.

The eight monitoring Taskforce teams whose work took effect from 3rd August  2015 and is expected to end on December 31, 2015.

Would be tax delinquents  have been adviced as a matter of urgency to take steps to settle their tax arrears or register their businesses with the local tax office in conformity with the country's tax laws.

It is expected that by the time the Taskforce brings its operation to an end, the tax offices nationwide will be positioned to take over the tax compliance operation.

The Taskforce is targeting to recover GHC120 million from tax defaulters nationwide.
