Out of a total of 114 fake teachers caught by the Ghana Education Service (GES) either using someone's certificate or a forged one, 102 of them work in the Brong Ahafo Region.
This revelation came about in a recent staff verification exercise conducted by the Ghana Education Service in its determination to flush out teachers using fake certificates.
The acting PRO of the GES, Rev Jonathan Bettey, spoke about how alarmed his outfit is at the revelation, and hinted that they would fish out and dismiss any teacher working with forged certificates in the country.
According to him, some of these teachers entered into the system without their own certificates whilst others had even gone to the university for further studies without the requisite qualification.
He said his outfit was going to prosecute teachers working with fake and forged certificates. Some of the fake teachers absconded after hearing of the news, but Rev Bettey promised they were not going to be left off the hook.
In a recent development, about 40 basic school teachers who had been teaching for three years with forged certificates were dismissed by the Director of Education in the Asunafo North Municipality of the Brong Ahafo Region, Jonas Yelboureri Yeboah.
This came at the heels of another similar development in the Jaman South District, where 17 teachers were dismissed, and another one at Boakye Tromo Senior High Technical School in Duayaw Nkwanta, where a teacher was arrested for teaching with a fake certificate for over five years.
