Investigations conducted by Starr FM in Accra reveals that the Police Hospital in Accra illegally receives payment to press defilement and rape charges against anyone without any means of thorough investigation or due process.
The investigations conducted by a reporter of the news establishment indicate that doctors at the said Police Hospital easily issue out reports of rape offenses without any medical checkup of the victim or complainant provided one is willing to pay a fee.
What this means is that anyone could just walk into the Police Hospital, pay a doctor and demand him or her to issue out a rape report against a target of ones own choosing be it an enemy, boyfriend or ex-lover.
Reporting what he had discovered at the Police Hospital, Wilberforce Asare, the journalist of Starr FM had two seperate defilement reports issued him by a said medical officer in the person of Dr. Maglene Cabrera Fonseca under a fee without any medical check or criminal investigation.
Although the import of the reports been churned out by Starr FM stays unconfirmed, concerns are been raised over whether or not this illegal culture of paying for rape reports contributed to dozens of rape and defilement cases reported in the media especially during the year with instances of the popular case involving radio presenter Ada and the recent one concerning Ghana's Asamoah Gyan been clear examples.
Should the investigations turn out to be true, this could mean the biggest scandal ever in the history of the Ghana Police Hospital.
