The former Chief Executive Officer of the Volta River Authority, Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobbey says the power struggle and act of impunity in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is destroying it.According to him the current culture where every top official in the party wants to feel important and relevant will see the party lose the 2016 presidential elections.
“Everybody is behaving like a king kong in the party,” Dr. Wereko-Brobby said on Kasapa 102.3FM Tuesday.
The Chief Policy Analyst of the Ghana Institute for Public Policy (GIPPO) also charged the flagbearer of the NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo to solve the internal wrangling that has bedeviled the party for over a year now.
He urged Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to stamp his authority and unite the party to fight towards winning the 2016 general elections.
The former NPP opined that failure to solve the problems in the NPP ahead of the 2016 general elections could lead to apathy among supporters of the party.
Dr. Wereko Brobbey also revealed that politicians in Ghana are forced to be corrupt due to the demands society make.
“Years ago when I decided I wanted to contest Political office, I met all sorts of people who made some really funny demands. It was all about what can you give us, what’s in it for us. Sadly, they were not concerned about development-oriented solutions to their problems,” he said.
