Court Dismisses Afoko's Suspension Case

Court Dismisses Afoko's Suspension Case

A court in Accra has dismissed a case against the indefinite suspension of New Patriotic Party (NPP) national chairman Paul Afoko.

According to the court the plaintiff, Mr. Oppong Kyekyeku could not prove he was an agent of Paul Afoko and also did not prove his interest in the matter.

The court further advised Mr. Kyekyeku to exhaust internal mechanisms laid down in the NPP's constitution for dealing disputes.

The National Executive Committee of the party suspended indefinitely the party’s national chairman; a decision party supporter, Oppong Kyekyeku sought to challenge in court.

In his [Mr. Kyekyeku] view the NPP’s Disciplinary Committee lacked jurisdiction to hear a petition calling for the suspension of the party Chairman, Paul Afoko.
