Joseph Mensah a carpenter has been brought before an Accra Circuit court for defiling an 11 year old girl under the pretext of giving her GH¢1.
The court, presided over by Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku charged the accused with defilement.
The accused person, has been remanded into police custody, by the court presided over by Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku.
The prosecutor, Inspector Judith Asante told the court that the complainant is a driver while the accused person is a carpenter who both lives in the same vicinity at Mallam, a suburb of Accra and very close friends too.
On October 15, 2015, the complainant's wife asked her to buy corn dough and while on her way the accused saw the victim and called her to come for the GH¢1 she the defile had demanded the previous week.
He lured him into his room, covered her mouth and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her. She stated that after the act he warned her not tell anyone about her ordeal and threatened her that she could die if she told anyone.
The prosecuting officer said an informant, who saw the carpenter lure the victim into his room, realized that the girl could not walk properly when she came out of the room and quickly informed the victim's parents about the incident who also lodged a complaint at the police station.
The police issued a form to the victim to attend the hospital for medical examination and treatment whilst Joseph was arrested and arraigned before court after police investigations.
