Mahama Promises To Buy A Car For Chief Who Plants The Most Trees

Chiefs in the Upper East Region have been challenged to plant trees if only they wish to be gifted cars by President John Dramani Mahama.

During his 'changing lives and transforming Ghana tour' at Bolgatanga, president Mahama justified his decision for car give-aways stating the move is to foster the culture of planting trees as part of an afforestation programme aimed at reducing the impact of climate change in the Northern belt of the country.

Ghana's Savannah belt is feared to have been bereft of the needed crop-boost due to what food experts explain is the constant depletion of the Savannah belt - a development which is projected to see Ghana's Northern sector virtually turned to a desert should measures not be put in place.
