Government Spends $40 Million On Dictionaries

Reports by the Daily Guide reveals that government through the Ministry of Education is closing a deal for a $40 million contract aimed at the purchase and supply of dictionaries for public schools.

The local newspaper insists the contract is expected to get get finalized by 2017 even if the incumbent National Democratic Congress loses power in the general elections. The alleged follows a similar contract of $44 million for the printing of Atlases for basic schools which is yet to be settled with the publishers – Approachers.

Even though the tender document says budgetary allocation had been made, strangely the payment arrangement has been done such that the first tranche is expected to be released in 2017, even when budget for 2016 has not yet be released.

In the meantime, the Ministry of Education is yet to officially comment on the revelations made by the Daily Guide.
