Power Barge Reaches Tunisia, Expected In Ghana On December 17

Reports do indicate that the first Power Barge which left the shores of Turkey to Ghana has now reached the shores of Tunisia, off the coast of Malta spending its third day ashore and thus expected to set sail in Ghana on December 17.

The nearness of the power barge was tracked by a marine tracking device which shows that the very location of the power will see the much anticipated emergency barge sail through the shores of AAbijan before finally setting sail in Ghana. The  barge was originally scheduled to dock at Tema Port in the first quarter of this year but got rescheduled for  September 2015 as government failed to meet the first two timelines for the arrival of the barges.

The first emergency power barge from Turkey is expected to add some 225 megawatts of power to the national electricity grid  as the second barge to produce 400MW is expected to be delivered by the end of the first quarter of 2016.
