The National Peace Council has expressed fears that the 2016 elections could turn into war considering the current political atmosphere in the country.
Chairman of the Council, Most Rev.Prof.Emmanuel Asante speaking on a possible violence come the 2016 elections at a stakeholders meeting in Koforidua has thus advised all political leaders to ensure members of their party stay put and thus eschew violence.
The comments of Most Rev. Prof. Asante’s come after calls by the opposition New Patriotic Party for the country to have a new voters’ register ahead of the 2016 elections. Leading members of the NPP including the flagbearer Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo have on several occasions stated that the EC has lost its credibility.
