BBC African Footballer of the Year Shortlist: Voting Opens

The BBC has named the five candidates for the 2015 BBC African Footballer of the Year.

The shortlist was revealed to football fans around the world during a live broadcast on BBC World Service radio.

Algeria's Yacine Brahimi, the 2014 winner, is on the shortlist along with Gabon's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ghanaian Andre Ayew, Senegal's Sadio Mane and Yaya Toure of Ivory Coast.

The winner will be decided by African football fans, who have until 18:00 GMT on 30 November to vote for their choice.

For Ghanaian to vote for Dede Andre Ayew, you just need to text ‘2‘to +44 77 86 20 20 08. Fans can vote for free online at: www.bbc.com/africanfootball

The 2015 nominees are:

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – Gabon and Borussia Dortmund (Germany)

André Ayew – Ghana and Swansea City (England)

Yacine Brahimi – Algeria and F.C. Porto (Portugal)

Sadio Mané –  Senegal and Southampton (England)

Yaya Touré – Ivory Coast and Manchester City (England)

The winner of BBC African Footballer of the Year 2015 will be revealed simultaneously on television, radio and online on Friday 11 December 2015. The announcement will be made during a special broadcast on BBC World News and BBC World Service at 1530-1600 GMT and revealed online via the BBC Africa Live page and on BBC social media channels.
