A 33 year old woman who attempted to traffic about 15 children to Kuwait and Jordan has been arrested by the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Tema Regional Command.
Nabista Margaret is documented to have been arrested at her hideout in Kpone following a tip-off by the police following her confessions to the police after about seven fake passports bearing the names of some of the children were discovered.
According to police reports, Nabista transported the victims from Dambai in the Volta region to Kpone under the pretext of evangelism. Meanwhile accomplice of the suspect, Emmanuel Ashatey has also been arrested under the charge of child trafficking to assist in investigations.
The victims have been relocated to a shelter pending investigations after which suspects will be arraigned. The Police say they are making efforts to unite the children with their families after investigations.
