University Of Ghana Freezes Recruitment Of Workers

The University of Ghana, legon says it is putting a temporary freeze on the recruitment of staff until government gives a go ahead to engage the services of prospective employers.

The decision was taken by the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Ernest Aryeetey during the university's congregation on November 2015. According to him, the freeze is because the institution has not received  clearance from government to make new appointments.

There has been  a freeze on employment in most public institutions since Ghana commenced a three-year programme with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as government seeks to control expenditure on public sector wages.
