Over 200,000 Illicit Arms And Weapons Smuggled To Ghana

Investigations conducted by the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Center reveals that over 1.3 million unregistered weapons have been smuggled to Ghana.

Confirming the inflow of the weapons, Chairman of the commission on small arms and light weapons, Brigadier General Francis Agyemfra fears the security of the nation remains on the balance should government not intervene.

Meanwhile, the Executive Secretary of the Small Arms Commission, Jones Aplerh, says the finding by the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre is worrying stating the motive behind the smuggling is what needs to be addressed.

Meanwhile the startling revelations by the security experts raise much concerns considering the upcoming general elections which is feared to be marred with post election violence.
