George Afriyie Named As GFA Vice President

President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi has named Mr George Afriyie as the vice president of the association.

Mr. George Afriyie was named on Thursday, 19 November 2015 at an Executive Committee meeting held in Accra.

Mr. Afriyie takes over the position from Fred Crentsil for the next four years.

The nomination of George Afriyie is based on Article 30.3 of the First Amendment of the GEA Statures passed by Congress on December 2014 which states:

“At the maiden meeting of the Executive Committee, the President shall appoint from the membership of the Executive, the Vice President of the GFA and three other members who shall together with the President form the five(5) members of the Emergency Committee.”

Elsewhere, Messrs Eddy Doku, Nanabanyin Benjamin Eyison and Kweku Eyiah have also been named to serve on the Emergency Committee.

The new GFA vice president previously served as management committee chairman for the Black Meteors and Black Satellites. He is also a member of the CAF Marketing and TV Rights Committee.
