Mahama Will Lose 2016 Elections, UK-Based Economic Intelligence Unit Predicts

A latest report by the UK-based Economist Intelligence Unit has revealed that President John Dramani Mahama is highly likely to lose next year's presidential elections - a development which will see him as a one term president.

The EIU in its November edition reveals that the 2016 general elections will be closely fought between the NDC and NPP but the main opposition party will win hands down despite the in-house wrangling in the party stating the outcome of the elections is by 'no means a foregone conclusion.'

The Unit also mentioned some of the indicators pointing to a one-term presidency for John Mahama include the poor handling of the economy, electricity and fuel shortages, high inflation and currency depreciation.

The report has further warned that the considering the political tensions in the country, the possibility of a civil uprising could be possible should government not consider its social welfare programs and management of its macro-economic standing.
