Preliminary investigations by the Criminal Investigations Department of the Police Service indicate that the persons behind Monday dawn ransacking of the New Patriotic Party head office are supporters of the suspended national chairman of the party, Paul Afoko.
Some 12 people are currently in police custody. Director of Police Public Affairs, DCOP Nenyi Ampah Benning says the men arrested will be held in custody based on the statements they present.
"Currently their case is being handled at the Police HQ. 12 persons have already been arrested and investigations are being undertaken," he noted.
But Mr. Afoko in a statement earlier in the day condemned the act.
Meanwhile the NPP at a press conference held by the party, Director of Communications Nana Akomea opined that the party officials are now on high alert.

The NPP is also alleging their intelligence revealed that security vehicles were used in the operation.
"The party is shocked that military and police officers could conduct searches without a warrant or knowledge of any party official.
"It can turn out to be a grievous attack on Ghana’s democracy," Nana Akomea noted at the press briefing.
However the police has denied claims the invasion was masterminded by uniformed men in military and police vehicles. He tasked anyone with such information to provide the police with that information.
