A High Court in Tamale has sentenced two men, Yakubu Aliu and Ernest Kona to death by hanging after they were charged of the crime of killing a 23 year old businessman at Bondiri near Bole in the Northern Region.

Reports do indicate, Aliu and Kona, both illegal miners (Galamsey) in 2013 met the deceased person at an illegal mining site at Bole where the deceased had gone to buy gold. The deceased at the site was approached by the convicts who told him that they had gold in their possession which they wanted to sell so they asked the deceased to follow them. Out of no where, the criminals are reported to have taken the deceased into a bush shooting him at close range.

Aliu and Kona further buried Bondiri in the bush taking with them a bag containing gold and an unspecified amount of money that he ( the deceased) was holding.
